Local Rules

Out of Bounds

A ball is out of bounds when lying (a) on the far side of any hedge or fence bounding the course, (b) in or beyond the stream on the 3rd, 4th up to the Roman Road, 6th, 7th or 9th hole or (c) on or beyond the flagged area in front of the Clubhouse.

Water Hazards

Water hazards are all pits, i.e. those on the left and right of the 5th fairway, that between the 10th and 18th fairways, the pit on the 14th fairway, the one on and between the 15th and 16th fairways, the one on the left before the 16th green and the stream crossing the 5th, 7th, 12th and 13th fairways. Water Hazards are marked by YELLOW stakes or lines.

Staked Trees/Banded Trees

Relief may be taken in accordance with Rule 24.2 (Immovable Obstruction)

Practice Putting Green

A ball lying on the Practise Putting Green or the adjoining flower beds MUST be lifted and dropped off the green, without penalty but no nearer the hole.

Roman Road

All parts of the 'Roman Road' are 'through the green'.

Stones in Bunkers

May be removed without penalty.

Ground Staff Area

The ground staff area between the 18th green and the 16th pit which is defined by yellow stakes and lines is a hazard. All buildings, pathways and everything in this area is an integral part of the course.

Immovable Obstructions

Any pathways not in a hazard, shelters, tee markers, benches and sprinkler heads are immovable obstructions. A ball lying on the path leading to from the 9th gents tee, may be lifted and played from the dropping zone provided, without penalty.

Sprinkler Heads

The sprinkler heads and hydrant covers are immovable obstructions from which relief may be obtained in accordance with Rule 24(2).

Tractor Tyre Marks

Tractor tyre marks Through the Green are G.U.R. Rule 25-1 applies.

Priority on the course

Singles and Foursomes have precedence over and are entitled to pass another kind of match. A single player has no standing. Any match playing the whole round is entitled to pass another playing a shorter round. If a match fails to keep its place on the course and loses more than one clear hole on the players in front, it should allow the match behind to pass.

Care of Course

Please help us to keep the course enjoyable and replace divots, repairing pitch marks on greens and smoothing over holes and footprints in the bunkers.

Players are reminded to consult the Notice Boards prior to play and comply with any Temporary Local Rules which may be in force at any given time.
