Easter Gruesomes

Monday 2nd April 2018

Fun time had by everyone

The 2016 Season was formally declared on Saturday 9th April, when our new Captain, Mr Stephen Pitcher, attended by his Vice Captain, Mr Jimmy Kay, presided over the Flag Raising ceremony.

Steve, in handing over the 2015 Flag, thanked our outgoing Captain, Neil Graham, for his year in office, and on an unusually dry day commented that that “was the last of the Scottish weather”, and wished all members a very successful season.

The ceremony was followed by the customary sides match between the Captain's and Vice Captain's Teams. As usual, the Captain's Tee shot was measured for the ‘Guess the distance’ competition. Pauline Kelly's guess of 197 yards was the winner.

A total of 19 teams took part in the match, with the end result being: -

Mr Captain 7

Mr Vice Captain 10

Drawn 2

The losing teams bought the traditional Hot Pot lunch, downed by a ‘few’ refreshing drinks.

Mr Vice Captain thanked Mr Captain and the members for a great turn out, and a fantastic day's golf, while celebrating his first ‘trophy’ of the year.

Mr Vice finished by asking the Captains team to get some practice in for next seasons match, as he is looking forward to trophy number!!!
