Fylde Society of Lady Golf Captains 65th Annual Golf Day

Captain of the FSLGC Helen Smith hosted 82 ladies from 12 clubs spanning Preston to Knott End on Monday 12th May 2025.

Clubs participated:
Ashton & Lea Blackpool Park Blackpool North Shore
  Fairhaven Fleetwood Heron’s Reach
Knott End Lytham Green Drive Penwortham
Preston Royal Lytham St Annes Old Links

The day started a little bit overcast but the sun soon burned off the clouds for yet another glorious day.

Ashton & Lea President Kevin Rushton was the starter for the day with Barry Piggott making sure he caught all the resplendent  images of ladies in their summer golf gear.

Well done to Graham and green keeping guys the course was fantastic, the real jewel in the A & L crown.  The biggest issue for the ladies was trying to slow the ball down!

Thanks to the Senior Gents for giving up one of their competition days.  Thanks to Jimmy Kay, Carl Startin, Alan Booker and Neil Graham who gave up their time to be spotters, this helped keep up the pace of play.

The Ashton & lea ladies stepped up to the plate yet again baking cakes, running the halfway house, selling raffle tickets, setting up tables and flower arranging.

The Charity raffle had some amazing prizes, thanks to the donors.  It raised £700 with the proceeds going to Cystic Fibrosis Trust, Heartbeat and Guide dogs for the blind.

Following the golf there was a 3-course presentation dinner. A baptism of fire for the new caterers and quite literally for the Chef Ant who burned his hand during service and still sports a golf ball size blister 3 days later!  He valiantly carried on and delivered quality food and the ladies were complimentary about their fare.

Then we came to the prize presentation, there were some fantastic scores. The prize winners are split across 2 divisions 1 to 26 and 27+
