Ashton & Lea Hosts Annual Golfers with Disabilities Match

Ashton & Lea Golf Club was delighted to host the annual Golfers with Disabilities (GWD) vs Ashton match this week – a fantastic day celebrating inclusive golf, competitive spirit, and community connection.

The GWD team travelled from far and wide, with players making the journey from Southampton, Nottingham, Bradford, and Leeds to take part. Among the visitors were Jake Graveson, a proud GWD Ambassador, and Maurice Graveson, both representing the away side with distinction.

In dry but breezy conditions, players enjoyed a thoroughly entertaining round of golf. The match proved incredibly close, with Ashton narrowly taking the win by just two points – 407 to 405.

Reflecting on the day, Seniors Captain Mr Jimmy Kay said:
“It was a real privilege to host such an inspiring group of golfers. Events like this are so important in highlighting disability golf and everything it represents. Ashton & Lea is proud to be a welcoming and inclusive club where everyone has the chance to enjoy the game.”

A huge thank you goes out to all players, organisers, and supporters who helped make the day such a success.
