Saturday 9th August saw a fantastic turnout for Lady President’s Day at Ashton & Lea Golf Club, with 37 ladies enjoying a fine, sunny, and slightly breezy day for one of the highlights of the golfing calendar.
Lady President Shirley Piggott welcomed competitors before they headed out, with Mr. President Kevin Rushden taking on the role of starter for the day. Colin Mairs kindly stepped in at the last moment to take photographs on the tee after Barry was unfortunately unwell. For one of our new lady members, this was her very first major competition and she was especially excited to be part of such a prestigious occasion.
After the golf, the ladies, dressed in their Saturday best, gathered in the clubhouse for the presentation. Afternoon tea, prepared by our club caterer Ant, was thoroughly enjoyed, and the presentation table looked stunning thanks to a beautiful floral centrepiece kindly provided by Mrs Barbara Wood.
Lady President Shirley Piggott expressed her appreciation to everyone who supported the day:
“I am so grateful to all 37 ladies who took part and made Lady President’s Day such a warm and friendly occasion. The weather was kind, the atmosphere was fantastic from start to finish, and it was lovely to see both long standing and new members enjoying the day together. Thank you to Kevin, Colin, Ant, and my dearest friends for their contributions in making this such a memorable event.”
