A Fantastic Night at the Sports Personality Dinner!

What a night to remember! The Ashton & Lea Golf Club clubhouse was full of laughter, applause, and generosity on Friday 3rd October, as members and guests gathered for our Sports Personality Dinner, raising vital funds for Heartbeat and Guide Dogs.

Thanks to the incredible efforts of Lady Captain Anne Graham, who had been working tirelessly in the weeks leading up to the event, the evening was perfectly planned and beautifully presented. The room was transformed with fairy lights, floral touches, and an atmosphere fit for a truly special occasion.

Guests arrived dressed in their finery, ready for a great night out – and they weren’t disappointed. A warm canapés and fizz reception kicked off the evening in style, followed by a delicious three course meal prepared by Ian the chef and the fantastic clubhouse team, who did an outstanding job throughout the night.

The entertainment came courtesy of our two very special guest speakers – Alan Kelly, former PNE goalkeeper and Heartbeat ambassador, and Jimmy Martin, the legendary Everton kit man. Their stories from inside the football world had the room captivated and entertained from start to finish.

With a charity raffle and small auction, the event raised an impressive £700 – all going directly to support the life changing work of Heartbeat and Guide Dogs. A special thanks to everyone who donated and took part.

Two major sporting items – Shane Lowry’s signed golf club and Jonny Sexton’s signed rugby boots – were held back from sale on the night and will be made available at a larger fundraising event in the near future.

It was an evening filled with warmth, generosity, and community spirit – a true celebration of sport and giving back. Thank you to all who attended and supported the event.
